THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Natural Law Candidate Biggest News in Debate

By Alan Johnson Dispatch Statehouse Reporter October 23, 1998

TOLEDO—Bob Taft and Lee Fisher clashed over taxes and negative campaigning as usual, but it was Zanna Feitler, the Natural Law Party candidate, who stole the show last night at the first gubernatorial debate.

As Taft, the Republican, and Fisher, the Democrat, bickered about their dueling television ads, Feitler injected, "Is anyone else tired of this? Really tired of this?

"People are so disgusted. People do not want this headbutting any longer," Feitler said.

"I bring fresh ideas to this process. I bring the treasured values of our democracy. I do not necessarily need to get elected to win this election."
